These sandals from TreadLightGear (Etsy affiliate link) are so fun! I’ve mentioned them before, and you can see them one of my early IGTV videos but today we’ll hit them as well, mini-Insta-review style.

Technical Specifications:
- 1/4 inch Vibram sole
- Bull Hide leather upper and straps, attached with nylon threads
Pros:
- The straps look awesome! I love this pattern, the long straps, the natural leather look. Huge draws for me.
- Natural bull hide leather, which is comfortable and attractive.
- They dress up and down easily and are great for both natural settings and around town.
- The layers are not glued together, but rather the top is stitched to the Vibram. Glue adds bulk and stiffness, so I love that these do not have that added material between the layers.
Cons:
- You can get sand/dirt/grit in between the layers of the footbed and it could be difficult to get it out.
- You’re walking on straps, basically. This isn’t detrimental, per se, but does take getting used to and I want to forewarn. See the last pic and my video for more details.
- Natural leather stretches, so at first, be prepared to retie them when wearing.
Tips:
- I find these sandals nice and wide, but a little smaller than typical sizing. My @earthrunners are 9 men’s and these are 10 men’s.
- Use a double knot on that strap. It will hold better for sure.
- Get a secure fit. If the sandals are loose it will start to affect your gait like flip flops. Make sure they are properly tightened and retightened.
- The straps are easy to cut, so you can make them shorter if you don’t want all the wrapping.
- These straps are long enough for a gladiator look up to your knees, but it’s not very secure if you have thicker legs like mine.
