A Big List of Barefoot Ballet Flats

Looking for ballet flat barefoot shoes? You’ve come to the right place! I scoured all the brands to compile this BIG list of over 30 options just for you, including some vegan barefoot flats. I’m trying to stick to what most people think of as ballet flats, but there are a few strappy models in here (which are closer to actual ballet shoes, let’s get real) and some that would wear similarly even if they have a slightly different look. Other styles of dress shoes like Oxfords, Brogues, and Chelsea boots will have their own list(s) in the future.

Want to check out other BIG lists? Here’s the master page, covering a bunch of other options, by either style or color, including purple, red, gold, and slip-on shoes.

Lisbeth Joe Harare Flats

If you want max style and elegance, go right to Lisbeth Joe’s Harare flats. I have a review of them here and love their scalloped design, strap, and comfort. The affiliate code OWBSHOES can save you 5%.

Softstar

The Ballerine from Softstar Shoes is a favorite of many minimalist footwear lovers. It’s comfortable and understated by design, but you can pivot to bring colors and straps as well for a look that is unique to you. Their customization options are nearly endless. They also have both the original and new Primal Merry Jane for a strapped look, and the Ballerine itself can come with sports straps as well.

Storehouse Flats

A great entry-level ballet flat is from Storehouse. It’s going to run thicker than other options and it is accidentally minimalist/ish, so you may need to size up for the width you need. But at well under $100, these are a great option for everyday wear. Sizing does vary between their different materials, so don’t hesitate to ask for advice if you want to head this route. You can get $8 off with the referral code OWBSHOES at this boutique. Storehouse operates on a pre-order model with limited in-stock flats, so you have to check around to see what colors are available and they do a ton of fun seasonal options.

These are some of my personal ballet flats, but there are so many more available in the barefoot shoes world. Check it out below and explore all the possibilities.

Astral – The Hemp Maria model is a flat you can take anywhere. The drop is 1 mm, and usually this company’s small drops can be resolved by taking out the insoles.
Atelier Dareen – custom shoemaker with colorful options, straps or no, with classy lines to all shoes (link is to Instagram page for the best pictures)
Ahinsa – the go-to option for color, this vegan brand offers blue, grey, neutrals, and even 2 different shades of red, and you can save 10% with the affiliate discount code A10_OWBSHOES and check out the Ahinsa Bare Ballerina Full Review for more details.
Angles – they have a bunch of colorful options in their ballet flats, from neutrals to red, blue, and lime green
Botky Mechovky – custom shoemaker with gorgeous shoes and tons of talent (link to FB page)
Dextra Perspective – this shoemaker on Etsy has pre-made designs and does custom work
The Drifter Leather – Drifter is a family-owned business that produces custom shoes made your way, in a variety of leather colors. I have previously reviewed their Slouchy Boot.
FairySteps – hand-crafted shoes in a rainbow of colors
Fitkicks – these are more athleisure, but the Crossover model can be a good introduction for people not sure about spending the big bucks on barefoot shoes
GeaSoles – hand-dyed, personally crafted, with custom measurements, includes everything from sandals to boots. I have a purple version of the YRSA that’s gorgeous and will review it in 2021.
Groundies – their Mandalay II is a nice, understated ballet option in black. I have a review of the Bella model (new in 2021) here.
Iguaneye – the most minimal flats around, with cups for your big toe and heel, and little else. The Freshoes model is the closest to a flat.
Jenon Leather – the Joplin model offers a laced take on ballet flats with a beautiful crossover look
JoeNimble – availability varies by country, but both the primaToes and stepToes can fill your ballet flat needs
Kate Kucerova/Kaku – custom shoe maker in the Czech Republic with really elegant lines in the shoes, including ballet flats
Leguano – like the Astral, Leguano offers multi-use flats for office or outdoor needs in both the Ballerina and Berry models
Luks – their Fuego mocassins have a stitch-down construction as the name implies, but can be worn very similarly to flats. Not a true ballet, but worthy of mention here.
Magical Shoes – colorful options, generous in volume, and with a fun ankle strap – this is a great look that’s worth a closer look
Oesh Shoes – offers the Dream flats and a 2-part Townie model
Shapen – does it get prettier than Shapen? The TULIP II model is gorgeous. Save 5% any time with my affiliate discount code OWBSHOES.
Solerunner – the Miranda flat is available in black leather, pink suede, and red canvas
Tadeevo – their Ballet Pumps are a mix of business leather options and canvas mesh that are super barefoot and versatile
Unshoes – the Primrose model is one of the cutest flats around and crosses over with slip-ons/moccasins. I love the blow and the beautiful colors they’ve chosen.
Ursanina – makes custom fabric and wool ballet flats in a multitude of colors and with cute accessories
VIVOBAREFOOT – model come and go here and currently there are no JingJings, which have been a staple flat for some time, but Opanka could work for many flats situations and the aff code OWBSHOES drops full-price items by 10%. You can also check Revivo for JingJing options.
Xero – the Phoenix model that launched in 2020 comes in both knit and leather versions, but is currently sold out. You can check out my looks at my mom’s pairs here.
ZAQQ – Zaqq has probably the most models of any minimalist brand, including several ballet flats, but check toe boxes as some are more narrow than others
Zeazoo – the Mary Jane model comes in 5 different colors with optional adornments
Zkama – this is a great place to find ballerinas in multiple colors
Zlatush – ready-made and custom shoes you can get in any color

  1. I would like to suggest to add Jenon Leather J.Joplin.
It a footwear which places itself squarely between the two chairs of ‘ballet flat’and ‘shoe’.
I love mine, they are so versatile.
