Zeazoo Dingo Barefoot Boots – A Full Review

Whether you were a devoted Uggs wearer before moving to barefoot shoes or not, Zeazoo Dingo are worth a look. I never owned Uggs myself, but am understanding the devotion now that I’ve got the Dingos from Zeazoo. These are a great minimalist shoes dupe of that beloved Uggs style.

Check out the end of the post for multiple places you can purchase these boots, including some sweet discounts. I bought mine directly from Zeazoo.

Technical Specifications

  • Upper: sheepskin leather (inside and out)
  • Sole: 6 mm Vibram Superflex
  • Sizes 35-42 (run large)

Appearance

If you’ve seen Uggs, you know what you’re looking at. Only here you get a flexible sole that’s much healthier for you. They come in the pictured brown, as well as black and purple. I prefer the brown because it goes so well with so many outfits.

I haven’t personally done this, but you can also roll down the cuff for a different look to change up your outfits and increase the versatility. The customizability is great!

Looking back from 2021 into 2020 boot season, my pictures were dark. How about some more sparkle at the beginning of the 2021-2022 boot season?

Dress them up any way you like, colorful or neutral.

Fit

The original Dingo boots had a much more tapered front, and while these do have some taper, they are very foot-friendly and will not impede your movement. They are fairly generous over the instep, so if you have a very flat foot you may need to wear thicker socks or yoga socks (with toes uncovered) to get a secure fit for walking. You don’t want to be gripping at these. Fill in as needed for that security, or you will find that the weight of the boots makes the heel drop, and that will wear them out faster.

Sizing

Zeazoo’s sizes can run large, and that is the case on the Dingos. That means that you will likely need 1 size smaller than your normal. That held true for me and I’m in a 42, while 43 is the size I normally wear. They have a detailed listing in their site, including extra volume measurements that you may find helpful.

If you’re unsure about sizing in general, check out my post on sizing and measuring for details.

Breaking In

I found them snug right out of the box, especially over the midfoot. My feet are high volume, so this will not be the case for everyone. They have perfectly stretched and had no other form of breaking in. These boots are comfortably immediately.

How do they feel?

The Twinface Sheepskin (just like Uggs) feels luxurious on your feet. The leather outside is soft while the inside envelops your foot in soft warmth. It’s so comfortable you can wear them without socks, but be sure you have a good fit if you do. I can’t say enough good things about how they feel. I’ve even put them on as houseshoes sometimes. They always feel good on your feet.

The sole is slightly padded with cotton in between the sheepskin and the sole, which is Vibram and has the right level of squish for your comfort without feeling like you’re being over-padded.

They have some bulk to them due to the volume of the two-sided sheepskin, and hold their shape well, though they are some of the most flexible shoes around and both the upper and the sole fold and move with even the slightest pressure.

Cleaning

These boots are beautifully soft, so you want to do the minimum to them to maintain that. It is a good idea to spray them with a protectant, but know that that usually darkens the leather. Kiwi, Nikwax, and more all make options. You can see some here, along with notes on which I’ve personally used. Waxes like Otter Wax and SnoSeal *can* be used on these, but they will greatly affect the texture of the boots.

Zeazoo has published a detailed care page on their website here which also includes waterproofing ideas.

Cleaning this type of leather requires a different approach than smooth leather. Horsehair brushes are your friend. (Also on the link above.)

Purchasing, Shipping, and Returns

These boots are very popular and available in a variety of ways:

  1. Directly from Zeazoo. You can order any of their colors here and if they are in stock they will ship out promptly, otherwise, it may take a couple of weeks. They ship via DHL and arrive quickly. With this option, you do have the potential to customize your shoes, something Zeazoo does frequently. Returns are accepted, though not on the custom options. My affiliate discount code OWBSHOES saves you 5%.
  2. PedTerra (formerly Young Sole Shoes) for US customers. They do free shipping and returns, and if it is your first time ordering from them you can save 10% with the affiliate discount code OWBSHOES.
  3. 100barefootsoles for EU and beyond. The same affiliate discount code works there as well (isn’t that cool?) so OWBSHOES will save you 10%.

Company Information

Zeazoo is based in Bulgaria and has been around since 2011. Their focus is on giving customers a “true barefoot feeling” and they look for the best materials and construction methods to accomplish this. Supporting natural foot development and movement is important to them. My experience has always been that they respond quickly and are very knowledgeable about their shoes, materials, and customers.

Final Thoughts

For warmth, softness, and comfort, you can’t beat these. They won’t ever be right for wet days, but for everything in between you can be very happy walking around with these on your feet. With 3 colors, you can have your pick of leathers that will work great for a variety of styles and outfit colors.
